Term 1 Week 3 - Thursday 10th February 2022
News From The Principal

Welcome to our first edition of CMW: The Weekly Review, our new communication tool being launched today.
CMW: The Weekly Review will be published each Thursday afternoon, and will include a reference piece from a member of the school leadership team and other regular sections. In this new publication we will share news articles of school events, some pointers to our social media posts, a Need to Know section and a calendar summary reminding you of events coming up in the next fortnight.
In communicating to you in this way we hope to bring you current school news and information in a format that is readable on either a smartphone or a larger device.
We are excited to share this first edition of CMW: The Weekly Review with you today and feel confident you will enjoy reading future editions.
P&F Meeting This Week
The Catherine McAuley Parents and Friends will hold their first meeting on Tuesday, 15 February, 2022. The meeting, a virtual one, will be an opportunity to come together with other parents and carers to hear about the progress of the school and to ask questions about school structures. It is always a very enjoyable evening, attended by a large group of parents. All are welcome.
More information about the meeting is available later in this publication.
I hope you can join us.
The 2022 School Year Has Begun In Earnest
School has quickly settled into a routine, with students focussed on their studies and school participation.
At this time we have recruited all staff, although we are waiting for some to complete their period of four weeks’ notice of intention to leave their current employers before they begin their teaching journeys at Catherine McAuley.
The uniform supplier, The School Locker, has assured us that most uniform issues have been resolved; I thank you for your patience as they have negotiated their delivery lines.
If you need to attend business at school reception or the uniform shop, I remind you that you can park via Gates 1 or 2 during school hours. All visitors, including those to the uniform shop, are asked to sign in at school reception. Visitors are not permitted on the school grounds, particularly during this period of COVID restrictions, so I ask that you do not park in the Gate 3 carpark and walk through the school.
We have been preparing for the implementation of the Compass Parent Portal for some time now. We are now ready to launch this communication system. Information will be given at next week’s P&F Meeting, and will also be communicated in next week’s CMW: The Weekly Review.
I would also like to thank you for your attention in ensuring your daughter tests for COVID-19 using a Rapid Antigen Test twice a week. The infection numbers at school are very stable, indicating that the school’s hygiene and safety practices are sound and that the community is cooperating with the measures put in place to protect everyone. The second delivery of Rapid Antigen Tests has arrived and will be distributed to students in homeroom tomorrow morning.

AROUND THE CLASSROOMS - Year 7 Science students are currently participating in an activity in their Science classes to introduce them to science and all the different branches it has to offer.
A number of stations relating to the different branches are set up around the lab and students need to identify which branch each station belongs to. The activity gives the students the opportunity to realise the diversity of science and all the different areas they have the opportunity to study.
